England, Day 5, Part 1

Gorgeous day, clear skies with a chill in the air in London, cold enough to wear a wool overcoat! My mom and I went to the Tower of London in the morning, just steps away from our hotel. We first saw the Crown Jewels. Then, we went on a tour with a Yeoman Warder, commonly known as a Beefeater. I learned during the tour that these guides have served in the military for 22+ years and many live on site with their families. Fascinating! Afterwards, we went on a river cruise of the Thames, and took a ride on the London Eye. The London Eye is the huge ferris wheel you can spot from the south end of the river. One revolution takes about 30 minutes, it never stops revolving at its slow pace even as you step on. The views were remarkable!
