England Candids

Final Thoughts:

- Mari can change her job as travel agent extraordinaire, for the right price! ;)
- Good thing this trip happened before the selfie stick ban at several tourist attractions around the world!
- Travel makes us happy.  Lots of smiles!
- Collect moments, not things.

England, Day 9

Our last day! I did a quick treadmill run and took a brisk walk along the Thames with the view of the Tower of London. I can't say enough about our accommodations at Cheval Three Quays. We also fell in love with Pret A Manger, coffee shop and bakery, which was right downstairs. I want to mention that throughout our stay, we had very little rain, and today was no exception. Mari arranged a ride to the airport through Uber and we arrived at Heathrow with time to spare at the duty free shops. Mari bought me a last minute treat, a chunky Kit Kat, yummy! On the airplane ride I was able to watch three great movies: Whiplash, Magic in the Moonlight, and Begin Again. What a memorable trip. I look forward to traveling to London again with the family in the near future.

England, Day 8, Part 2

Again, thank you to Mari for all her research and arrangements as I reflect on our last night in London. We went to the Green Man and French Horn for a three-course dinner. Everything, including the main course of mussels, was fantastic. The restaurant was a great location, walking distance to the play Shakespeare in Love. Very dramatic and well acted! It was great to see a play in the heart of the city. A last look at our night view from our hotel before traveling home the next day.

England, Day 8, Part 1

Our last full day of our England trip? How could it be? This day, my mom and I went to the British Museum. My mom and I decided to go our own separate ways once we arrived at the museum but somehow met up at least a couple of times at the same artwork. Pieces that stood out included the Rosetta Stone, the Lewis Chessmen (from Harry Potter) and the Easter Island statue Amon. It was a nice outing during the rainy morning.

England, Day 7, Part 2

For lunch we went back to the Indian restaurant my mom and I had gone to previously, and then did a little shopping. We went to Hamley's, a multi-story toy store, with clerks everywhere demonstrating the latest games and activities kids would enjoy. We also visited the flagship Liberty Store, complete with fabrics as well as various fashion and home goods. For dinner, we enjoyed an elegant high tea. We were able to leisurely relax in front of the fireplace during a rainy afternoon with tasty teas, sandwiches, and desserts while listening to a memorable piano player who entertained us with various genres of songs by artists such as Keith Whitley and Elvis Presley. Finally, Mari and I enjoyed drinks at a speakeasy, which topped off our day.
