Culver City Fun

We had a great time watching the Actor's Gang of Culver City perform Shakespeare in the Park for families. This summer's performance was Romeo and Juliet : Pokemon Go! Anna and Sam were familiar with both sets of characters, and the mashup of storylines kept everyone thoroughly entertained. The actors are all so talented! We can't wait for next summer's play!

Dana Point

Dana Point is a popular place to dine, go to the beach, and explore. We walked along the harbor, where the Ocean Institute and the Spirit of Dana Point is located, and took a look down at the tide pools, where the water level was quite high at that time of the day. Afterwards, ordered take-out at a local pizzeria and Steve drove us up to Lantern Bay Park while he picked up our food. I was always curious about this green space that overlooks the coastline, it's a gorgeous spot with large pine trees and picnic areas. Another nice getaway in Southern California!

UCSD / SD State

It's fun strolling around college campuses and seeing the differences among them. Today, we went to UC San Diego as well as San Diego State. UC San Diego felt a bit like UC Irvine, large academic structures, meandering paths, artwork here and there. Many tours were going on, prospective students and parents. After UCSD we had lunch at Carnitas Snack Shack before heading to San Diego State. This campus area seems compact from the perimeter but there are some beautiful green open spaces in between the white Spanish style buildings.

Crystal Cove

At Crystal Cove, the kids enjoyed playing in the water for an extended amount of time. Sam and Olivia were encountered by the hugest wave which submerged them underwater before they both recovered. They both had smiles as they recounted the moment on shore.

OC Fair 2016

We always have a good time at the Orange County Fair. This time around, we purchased a refillable card which allowed a certain number of rides as well as carnival games. We usually aren't one into these games, which seem almost impossible to win, but prizes included Pokemon stuffed animals (to coincide with the summer craze of Pokemon Go).

This particular carnival game involved landing plastic balls into specific colored cups. You could trade in smaller prizes for a larger one. This took a refill of the card and a bit of pressure and nerves, but on the last chance we won enough times for Bulbasaur and Charmander.  Nothing could beat the smiles on their faces!  We topped off our visit with some rides, pig races, and fair food such as turkey legs and bbq pork.

Pacific City

Huntington Beach has a new shopping center across the beach called Pacific City. Steve and I enjoyed some Philz Coffee while enjoying the sights from the attractive seating areas.
