Italy! April 14 Thursday - Duomo Dome

We woke up for espressos and an American style breakfast, large size for Italy. The eggs and meat dish was pre-made and then heated up, very tasty. At these small local cafes, many locals enjoy coffee and pastry for breakfast, so to see a plate like this was unusual. We then headed over to the Duomo, we were able to use the Bell tower ticket for a last-minute climb. The Duomo opened before the 10:00 a.m. published time, so we were able to squeeze in before checking out of our Airbnb at 11:00 a.m. Steve and I were able to enjoy close-up views of the painted interior ceiling, then the exterior views of the of Florence. The climb was even higher than the Bell Tower one. The climb is a bit strenuous and claustrophobic at parts, but well worth the workout since we had a couple of train rides in front of us to Vernazza.
