Mammoth : Day 4 - Lake Arrowhead Fishing

Sam has wanted to try fishing for quite a while, so we knew we wanted to experience it during this trip. We went to a fishing goods store in town, where they recommended Lake Arrowhead for first-timers, the fish would be small but plenty and you would be almost assured to catch one. We took off early and drove to the closest spot to the lake, but even then we had a hilly hike for over a mile. Once we got to the lake, no one was there. We found a small clearing, where there were signs of someone having fished there recently, fishing line caught in branches and shrubs around us. Steve casted the line, and Sam patiently sat in a chair, waiting, waiting. There were a few false alarms, some moss, plant remnants he'd pull in. During the last five minutes before we'd call it a fishing day, the line pulled, a bit differently. And Sam reeled in a small trout! Lots of cheers and excitement amongst the three of us. A memorable first catch for Sam.
