Hawaii - Day 3, Part 2 : Punaluu Black Sand Beach

We ate lunch at the 10-Pin Grill at the Kilauea Military Camp. The food took forever but that gave the kids extra time to play soccer. At that time we got a taste of "island time", the leisurely pace of life of people on the islands. We then headed over to Punaluu Black Sand Beach. Here, the sand is dark black and coarse, made of volcanic materials. Sea turtles were actually resting on the sand despite the popularity of the beach. Various warning signs were posted here and there to give these animals their needed space.
