San Onofre and San Clemente

It's easy to spot San Onofre, the inoperative nuclear power plant with the unique dome shape, but it is a state beach. We visited it for the first time, it's seasonally popular with surfers but this day, it was quite empty, due to the cool (cold) weather. The kids found themselves snuggling up to dad when they were hiking and exploring about. Pretty surreal having stretches and stretches of beach to ourselves. Afterwards we went to MRK Public in San Clemente, Anna had Asian chicken wings, Sam the chicken sandwich, Steve a short rib sandwich and I had the Thai mussels. Yum! We then took a stroll on the San Clemente Pier, I think we were the only ones in summer clothing, but that was fine, it added to the excitement of the day.
