We went to the Uffizi Gallery in the morning for our 8:15 a.m. morning reservations. It is amazing how much you can arrange online beforehand, and I'm glad we did! With a massive, popular museum such as the Uffizi, it is best to learn the location of the works you want to see, and head to each before the crowds. Because the Uffizi was being renovated at the time, we purchased an art book beforehand and asked various museum guards the location of the pieces we wanted to see. We headed first to the Birth of Venus by Botticelli. We were the only ones in the room for a while, how beautiful and delicate and massive all at the same time! The colors are vibrant and modern, it looks like it could have been painted very recently even though it was made in the mid 1480's. Other works that stood out were Rafael's Self Portrait, and the Dukes of Urbino by Francesca. I am glad we chose this museum to tour for the morning!
