Florence is known for their quality leather goods, we went shopping at Scuola del Cuoio. It is a leather goods place started by Franciscan friars after World War 2 to give war orphans a way to make a living. You can watch the craftspeople in action here, Scuola del Cuoio has made a reputation for itself by selling high-end items to celebrities but there are extensive choices for every budget. We purchased a belt for Steve, and a purse for myself. They monogrammed these items for free. Excellent, friendly, unpretentious service.
Afterwards we crossed the Arno River and went to the expansive Boboli Gardens. One could easily spend a full day here hiking the grounds, picnicking, relaxing, and visiting the costume museum. We had a very fun-filled day in Florence.
