Italy! April 10 Sunday - Rome in the Afternoon

Our Airbnb rental apartment was literally steps away from excavations of Roman ruins, and a few minutes walk to the Colosseum. While trying to gather our bearings and figure out where to go to lunch, we had our first gelato. (Little did we know at the time, gelato would be a daily snack routine!) Steve also started chatting with some elementary school kids, they probably thought he was a movie star (Jason Statham). We felt more at ease with our surroundings and then chose a lunch spot according to the crowds outside, Angelo Poretti seemed popular with Italians as well as foreigners. We enjoyed pizza and salmon pasta. Steve and I then took a stroll away from the Colosseum to a church with a private garden, and stunning view of the sites.
