Could it be our last morning in Hilo? We fell in love with the guest house and were sad to leave, but excited about the following adventures on the other side of the island. After a morning jog, goodbye to Puppy, and the signing of the guest book, we were off. It was such a great experience renting a home in Hawaii and getting a feel for the island life, including stops at the local KTA Market (and fried rice spam musubi for Anna). The older girls went riding with Rachel while Steve and I had the younger kids in the back and we made the 2 hour drive to the other side of the Big Island. On the way we bought lychees from a street vendor (juicy and sweet) and stopped at Akaka Falls. We also stopped at Tex Drive In at Honokaa for their world famous malasadas.
